This short but nice little trip along the Blue River Parkway is a nice little shady route
This is a great example of a fun backroad trip through southern Johnson County. Donīt even know the exact route for sure, just meander and have some fun!
This little park is up on a good hill, and atop the hill sets a big tower (like a fire tower but bigger and more sturdy). From the top of this you can see for MILES in every direction.
Hereīs a route from the KC area down through the Laurie / Sunrise Beach area, up through the Truman Dam area and into Clinton, and back to KC. Definitely a day-long trip (3.5 hours down, 3.5 hours back), but some GREAT roads.
Simple route, pretty scenery, and a nice place to eat before heading back!

Take about an hour or so to head up to Valley Falls-- some nice scenery and a chance to get out of town for a bit!
Here's a quick loop idea to hit DeSoto and back. Use this for ideas on other back highways in the DeSoto, Eudora, Bonner Springs, Tonganoxie area.
Run down to Hillsdale real quick, take a look around, and loop back!
